The Western Cape government announced a major push to expand housing delivery, allocating more than R2 billion to the Human Settlements Department. This comes as residents face rising demand from people moving to the province, highlighted by MEC for Infrastructure Tertuis Simmers’ tabling of a R9.86 billion infrastructure budget for the 2026/2027 financial year.

The Ithemba Project in Eerste Rivier will provide around 2,400 housing opportunities. It also includes community facilities and services.
