Millwright Apprenticeship

Instrument Mechanician Apprenticeship

Here, the focus is on instrumentation, control systems, and plant operations. You will work with tools that monitor and control manufacturing processes. This builds skills for roles in modern industrial environments.

About the Apprenticeship Programme

Successful applicants will train at the Lubricants Manufacturing Plant on Wharfside and Causeway Road in Durban. The program mixes workplace training with classroom lessons. You will work with experienced teams, fill out logbooks, and pass assessments. This setup gives you both practical experience and formal knowledge for a strong start in engineering.

Key Responsibilities

As an apprentice, you will handle several daily tasks. These include following health, safety, and environmental standards at all times. You must wear proper personal protective equipment and help with plant maintenance. Other duties involve attending training, keeping work areas clean, reporting hazards, and completing paperwork like timesheets. Be ready for overtime or shift work when needed.

Minimum Requirements

To apply, you need a Matric (Grade 12) with Mathematics and Physical Science. An N3, N4, N5, or N6 Engineering qualification in Mechanical or Electrical/Electronic fields also works. Less than three years of experience is preferred, making it ideal for recent school leavers or early-career seekers.

Additional Requirements

You must be physically fit for the job. This means being comfortable working at heights, like on tanks and platforms, and in confined spaces, such as inside tanks. The industrial environment requires good stamina and safety awareness.
