Internship Overview

The University of the Free State (UFS) has opened applications for its 2026 Internship Programme. This 12-month program focuses on Assessment and Blended Learning Innovation Support Services in the Teaching and Learning environment. Interns will earn a monthly stipend of R9,497.50 while working in Bloemfontein, South Africa. The application deadline is 10 April 2026.

Key Responsibilities

Interns will handle several tasks to support online learning. These include:

  • Helping to create e-assessment activities and question banks.
  • Assisting with scheduling assessments on UFS online platforms.
  • Developing training materials for objective assessments.
  • Supporting training sessions for students and academic staff.
  • Collecting and analyzing data, plus writing reports.
  • Providing help to users of online learning and assessment systems.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify, applicants need a Bachelor’s Degree or B-Tech at NQF Level 7. They must have no previous formal work experience and not be in another internship or learnership. Candidates should be available for the full 12 months and willing to sign an internship agreement. South African citizenship is required for these UFS Internships 2026.

Advantageous Qualifications

A postgraduate qualification will strengthen your application. Prior roles as a tutor, student assistant, or teaching assistant are a plus. Knowledge of learning management or assessment systems also helps.

Required Competencies

Strong organizational and planning skills are essential. Interns must work well under pressure, pay close attention to detail, and communicate effectively in a team. Proficiency in MS Office is needed, along with the ability to collaborate under supervision.
