Finance Internship Programme 2026

The Finance Internship Programme is designed to offer a comprehensive three-year learning experience. Interns will receive a salary of R120,000 per annum and will be based in the Eastern Cape. This program is ideal for individuals looking to build a career in public sector finance.

Requirements for Finance Interns

To be eligible for the Finance Internship Programme, applicants must possess a relevant NQF Level 6 or NQF Level 7 qualification in a finance-related field. Acceptable fields of study include Accounting, Financial Management, Public Finance, Economics, Risk Management, and Auditing. Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old. Strong candidates will be able to work independently and as part of a team, manage their time effectively, and perform well under pressure. Good communication skills, computer literacy (especially in Excel), and a keen attention to detail are also essential. Furthermore, applicants must be proficient in at least two of the official languages spoken in Kouga Municipality: Afrikaans, English, and Xhosa.

Training and Exposure in Finance

Interns in the Finance Department will gain exposure to a wide range of critical areas. This includes public sector procurement, understanding the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA 56 of 2003) and related legislation, and learning about best practices and Treasury Regulations. The program also focuses on developing negotiation, planning, and organizational skills. Interns will be involved in performance monitoring and will hone their report writing and analytical abilities. A significant part of the training will cover the Municipal Finance Management Programme (MFMP).

Electro-Mechanical Department Internship 2026

The Electro-Mechanical Department is offering an 18-month internship program with a monthly stipend of R4,000. This program provides hands-on experience in technical fields and is located in the Eastern Cape.

Available Fields of Study in Electro-Mechanical

This internship is available across several specialized areas within the Electro-Mechanical Department. These include:

  • Electrical Engineering: This experiential learning program lasts for 18 months. Applicants need to submit their Curriculum Vitae, N6 Certificate, and a Placement Letter from their tertiary institution. There are 7 posts available for this specialization.
  • Mechanical Engineering: Similar to electrical engineering, this is an 18-month experiential learning program. Required documents include a Curriculum Vitae, N6 Certificate, and a Placement Letter. There are 2 posts available in this field.
  • Mechanic Qualification: This program also offers 18 months of experiential learning. Applicants must provide their Curriculum Vitae, Mechanic Trade Test Certificate, and a Placement Letter. There are 2 posts available for this qualification.

Requirements for Electro-Mechanical Interns

All applicants for the Electro-Mechanical Department internships must be computer literate and between the ages of 18 and 35. Good communication skills are necessary. Like the finance program, candidates must be able to speak, read, and write in at least two of the official languages of Kouga Municipality: Afrikaans, English, and Xhosa.

Internship Agreement and Required Documents

Successful candidates will be required to sign an internship agreement in addition to an employment contract. This agreement ensures commitment to the program, including full participation in educational and workplace assignments, and adherence to municipal policies.
