About the UN Women Programme Support Internships 2026

The UN Women EntreprenHER Programme aims to support women-owned micro-enterprises. These internships will provide practical experience in programme coordination, administration, event logistics, communications, data management, and stakeholder engagement. Interns will work closely with municipal officials, trainers, entrepreneurs, and community members. This is a six-month, full-time internship.

The EntreprenHER Programme, funded by De Beers Group, helps women entrepreneurs through training, mentorship, market access, and small grants. Phase III of the programme aims to support 1,500 women entrepreneurs across Botswana, Namibia, and South Africa. The programme objectives include improving business skills, supporting income security, promoting women-owned businesses, and increasing access to digital skills.

Available Internship Opportunities

There are two Programme Support Intern positions available:

  • Programme Support Intern (Blouberg Local Municipality)
  • Programme Support Intern (Musina Local Municipality)

What the Internship Offers

Successful interns will gain valuable experience in several key areas:

  • Practical exposure to programme coordination and administration.

Programme Duration and Location

This is a six-month internship. The positions are located in the Blouberg and Musina Local Municipalities in the Limpopo Province of South Africa. Interns will be involved in community-based activities and field visits within these areas.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for these internships, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be enrolled in or have recently completed university or TVET studies in fields such as Entrepreneurship, Business Studies, Development Studies, Social Studies, Public Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Meet at least one of these conditions:
  • Be enrolled in a postgraduate programme.
  • Be in the final academic year of a first university degree.
  • Have graduated with a university degree within the last two years.
  • Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship that is part of a degree program.
  • Have excellent written and spoken communication skills in English.
  • Have good communication skills in Sepedi and/or Xivhenda (or Xitsonga as per the source).
  • Be comfortable working in rural communities and with municipal structures.

  • Basic data collection and management abilities.
