Program Details

The Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic) runs this internship in Sunnyside, Pretoria, South Africa. It helps graduates gain practical workplace skills to boost their job prospects. You will learn about government systems and help create a strong, inclusive economy.

Monthly Stipend

Interns receive a monthly stipend of R7 860.50. This amount may change based on your highest qualification when you start. It provides support while you gain experience.

You need a tertiary qualification at NQF Level 6 or higher in one of these areas:

  • Business Management or Business Administration
  • Human Resource Management or Development
  • Communication or Public Relations
  • Law
  • Software Development
  • Economics
  • Statistics or Econometrics
  • Agricultural Economics or Forestry Science
  • Development Studies
  • Accounting, Financial Management, or Cost and Management Accounting
  • Risk Management
  • Internal Auditing or Auditing
  • Natural Sciences like Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or Bioengineering
  • Mining Engineering or Metallurgy Commerce
  • Occupational Health and Safety
  • Supply Chain Management or Procurement
  • International Politics

Who Can Apply

To qualify for the dtic Internships 2026, you must meet these points:

  • Be an unemployed South African graduate.
  • Hold a qualification at NQF Level 6 or above.
  • Have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Show professionalism and integrity.
  • Be analytical with good attention to detail.
  • Work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Willing to learn government systems and processes.

Key Application Rules

Include these with your application:

  • A completed and signed new Z83 Form from www.gov.za/documents.
  • A detailed CV with your final year modules or subjects.
    Do not send certified documents at first. Only shortlisted candidates need them. Late or incomplete applications get rejected. If you have foreign qualifications, get them evaluated by SAQA. No feedback in 3 months means you were not selected.
