The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) has opened its Call for Proposals 2026, offering up to $500,000 to support projects on health equity. This funding aims to help U.S. organizations build a stronger health knowledge system by learning from global examples. If you work in community health or equity efforts, this could be a key chance to make real change.

What the RWJF Call for Proposals 2026 Covers

The RWJF focuses on ending structural racism and barriers to health equity. They partner with communities, practitioners, and groups to do this work. For this call, they want projects that use ideas from outside the U.S. to improve health knowledge in America.

These projects should create action steps for health equity, justice, and well-being. They stress community-led ways to generate, save, and share knowledge. The goal is a health system that stays strong during crises and supports everyone fairly.

Award Details

RWJF plans to fund up to 15 awards. Each one can go up to $500,000. They ask applicants to request only what they need, so more groups can get support.

Larger awards often mean spreading funds across salaries for several people or multiple activities. This setup helps build wider impact.

Who Can Apply

U.S.-based organizations or those in U.S. territories can apply. Teams with both U.S. and international members are welcome, as long as the project targets health equity in the U.S. Projects only outside the U.S. do not qualify.

RWJF encourages leaders from all backgrounds. They give special support to those facing threats today, such as Indigenous people, Black, Latino, and other people of color, LGBTQ+ members, immigrants, and other marginalized groups. They do not pick or reject based on race, gender, or other protected traits.

New organizations to RWJF get priority. If your group received RWJF funds since January 1, 2021, you cannot apply. This includes grants, contracts, or awards through fiscal sponsors. Fiscal sponsors from that time should check FAQs for details.

Biomedical, clinical, or lab science projects are not eligible. Medicinal remedies also do not fit. If needed, you can use a fiscal sponsor for money management and reporting.

How to Apply
