These programs help unemployed youth and skilled workers gain qualifications in engineering and technical trades. Diesel Mechanic Apprenticeship Programme 2026
This program trains young South Africans in diesel mechanics with hands-on and classroom learning.
Programme Details
- Qualification: Occupational Certificate – Diesel Mechanic
- Duration: 36 months
- Stipend: R3 000 per month
- Number of Opportunities: 28
Minimum Requirements
You must be a South African citizen aged 18 to 35 and unemployed. Your education needs to include Matric with Mathematics, or N2 / NCV Level 3 or higher with relevant trade theory.

ARPL Opportunity (Artisan Recognition of Prior Learning)
This program helps experienced artisans get formal certification in their trade.

Requirements
Be a South African citizen aged 25 or older with at least 3 years of relevant work experience in the trade.
Number of Opportunities
- 20 for unemployed artisans
- 4 for employed artisans
