Are you a South African student looking for financial help to study in retail or related fields? The Shoprite Bursaries 2026 offer a great chance for young people to get support for their education. Shoprite Group, Africa’s largest retailer, wants to fund students who can help grow its business in the future.
About the Shoprite Bursary Programme
Shoprite started in 1979 and now runs thousands of stores across Africa. The bursary programme targets students in high-demand areas like retail and supply chain. It helps build skills for careers within the company. Applications close on 31 May 2026.
Fields Covered by the Bursaries
Shoprite offers bursaries in four main study areas. Here is the breakdown:
- Accounting (CA Stream – SAICA): 10 bursaries available.
- Biological & Agricultural Sciences: 10 bursaries available.
- Retail Business Management: 60 bursaries available.
- Supply Chain & Logistics: 10 bursaries available.
These fields match Shoprite’s needs in business operations.
Bursary Value and Coverage
Each bursary is worth between R30 000 and R60 000 per year. The amount depends on the course and school. It covers tuition fees, prescribed textbooks, and an accommodation allowance. This support makes studying more affordable.
Work-Back Obligation
Once you finish your studies, you must work for Shoprite Group. The rule is one year of work for each year of funding you receive. This helps the company get skilled workers back.

All applicants must meet basic rules. You need to be a South African citizen, 27 years old or younger, and have completed Matric. You must also study at a recognised tertiary institution.
