  • Biological & Agricultural Sciences: 10 bursaries available.

Bursary Value and Coverage

Each bursary is worth between R30 000 and R60 000 per year. The amount depends on the course and school. It covers tuition fees, prescribed textbooks, and an accommodation allowance. This support makes studying more affordable.

Work-Back Obligation

Once you finish your studies, you must work for Shoprite Group. The rule is one year of work for each year of funding you receive. This helps the company get skilled workers back.

Minimum Requirements

All applicants must meet basic rules. You need to be a South African citizen, 27 years old or younger, and have completed Matric. You must also study at a recognised tertiary institution.

Field-Specific Requirements

  • Accounting (CA Stream): Study BCom Accounting or BAcc (CA stream). Be in 2nd to 4th year, or PGDA/CTA. Need a 65% average overall, and 65% in Accounting, Auditing, and Tax.
  • Biological & Agricultural Sciences: Study agriculture-related qualifications. Need a 60% average.
  • Retail Business Management: Study Diploma in Retail Business Management. Need a 60% average.
  • Supply Chain & Logistics: Study Logistics, Supply Chain, or Operational Research. Need a 60% average.

Selection Process

Shoprite will contact shortlisted candidates within 30 days after 31 May 2026. Internal candidates might get priority. If you hear nothing, assume your application did not succeed.
