Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for the Exxaro Bursary Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a South African citizen.
  • Be between 18 and 28 years old.
  • Live within an Exxaro host community in Limpopo or Mpumalanga.
  • Have a disability as defined by the Employment Equity Amendment Act (EEA).
  • Be enrolled in a Degree or Diploma programme that lasts at least three years.
  • Be studying within one of the approved fields of study.
  • Be registered at a recognized and accredited South African tertiary institution.
  • Be able to maintain the academic performance standards set out in the bursary agreement.
  • Commit to attending classes and completing all academic tasks.
  • Submit academic progress reports or transcripts each semester.
  • Participate in bursary-related activities and development programs.
  • Show good conduct and professionalism.
  • Be willing to fulfill any work-back obligations, internships, or service commitments required by Exxaro after graduation.
  • Notify the bursary office of any changes to their studies, institution, or personal situation.

Required Supporting Documents

Applicants need to provide clear copies of the following documents:

  • A certified copy of their South African ID.
  • A certified copy of their Matric Certificate.
  • Their full academic record or tertiary transcripts, printed on the institution’s letterhead.
  • A medical letter confirming their disability status.
  • Proof of residence.

Not submitting all the necessary documents can lead to disqualification.
