Eligibility and Application Requirements

The Google Semarak Malaysia Fund is open to a wide range of community-focused entities operating within Selangor. Eligible applicants include schools, ROS-registered societies, SSM-registered entities, social enterprises, registered cooperatives, and informal organizations or community groups.

All applicants must demonstrate a clear social mission, a commitment to community benefit, and the capacity to use grant funding effectively for impact-driven activities. They must also show they can complete their proposed project within a 12-month timeframe. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and authorized representatives of their organizations. Crucially, all funded projects must be located and implemented within the State of Selangor, Malaysia.

The Application and Selection Process

The application process is designed to be straightforward. The deadline for submissions is June 30, 2026. Applicants have two options: they can submit their own original project idea or apply to implement a proven idea already available through the ChangeX platform.

Following the submission deadline, all applications will undergo a review process. Successful applicants will be notified by August 11, 2026.

After notification, selected applicants must complete onboarding requirements within 30 days before starting their projects. Grant recipients are then required to submit both qualitative and quantitative impact data within 12 months of receiving funding. This impact reporting is essential for unlocking the final portion of the grant.

Permitted and Prohibited Use of Funds

Funding from the Google Semarak Malaysia Fund can be used for a variety of project-related expenses. These include project setup costs, community space rental, insurance fees, purchasing tools and materials, seeds and planting supplies, training costs, maintenance, and operational support. In some cases, payments for project workers may also be covered.

However, the funding cannot be used for certain activities. These include covering costs for previously completed work, activities unrelated to the approved project, religious promotion, fundraising events, sponsorships, or any activities related to criminal or violent acts, hate speech, or discrimination.
