Internship Details

Human Resources Management and Development Internship (X4 Posts)
This internship focuses on the core functions of Human Resources. Successful candidates will gain experience in areas such as recruitment, employee relations, and training development. The required qualification is a Diploma (NQF 6) in Human Resources Management or Human Resources Development.
Organisational Development Internship (X1 Post)
This role involves contributing to the improvement of organizational efficiency and effectiveness. Interns will work on projects related to process improvement and strategic planning. A Diploma (NQF 6) in Management Services, Operations Management, or Production Management is required.
Employment Relations Internship (X1 Post)
This position offers exposure to the complexities of workplace relationships and labor laws. Interns will assist in managing employee grievances and ensuring compliance with regulations. A Diploma (NQF 6) in Labour Relations is the necessary qualification.
Financial Management and Accounting Internship (X3 Posts)
This opportunity is ideal for those interested in public sector finance. Interns will be involved in budgeting, financial reporting, and accounting processes. A Diploma (NQF 6) in Financial Management or Accounting is required.
Supply Chain Management Internship (X4 Posts)
This internship provides experience in managing the flow of goods and services within the department. Responsibilities may include procurement, logistics, and inventory management. Relevant qualifications include a Diploma (NQF 6) in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Public Management, Purchasing, or Transport Management.

Information Communication and Technology Internship (X4 Posts)
This internship is suited for individuals with a passion for technology. Interns will support IT infrastructure, systems, and digital services. A Diploma (NQF 6) in Computer Science or Information Technology is necessary.
Communication Internship (X2 Posts)
This role involves supporting the department’s communication strategies and public outreach efforts. Interns will assist in developing content and managing media relations. A Diploma (NQF 6) in Journalism, Marketing and Communication, or Communication is required.
Legal Services Internship (X3 Posts)
This internship offers practical experience in public sector law. Interns will assist the legal team with research, drafting documents, and providing legal advice. An LLB Degree (NQF 6) in Law is the required qualification.
Office of the Director-General Internship (X2 Posts)
This position provides a unique opportunity to work closely with the department’s leadership. Interns will gain exposure to high-level administration and strategic support. A Diploma (NQF 6) in Management, Business Management, Administration, Public Management, Office Management, or a related Administration qualification is needed.
General Requirements for Applicants
To be eligible for the Graduate Internship Programme, applicants must meet several criteria. They must be unemployed South African citizens and possess a Grade 12 certificate (NQF 4). Crucially, applicants must hold the specific qualification relevant to the internship they are applying for and must not have participated in a prior internship program. A genuine interest in gaining public service work experience is also a key requirement.
